The Duchess of Cambridge has been praised by mothers’ groups for stepping out in front of the world’s media, outside the Lindo Wing, showing her post-baby bump.
“In a couple of minutes on the steps of the Lindo Wing, Kate has done more for new mums’ self-esteem than any other role model,” Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard said.
The founder explained many celebrities take “ultra-fast” routes to slimming down that leave other new mothers feeling “inadequate”.
However the head of the Netmums said “Kate shows what a real mum looks like and natural is best,” adding that the Duchess had “proved herself a healthy role model for real mums around the world.”
Kate appeared relaxed and confident as she left the London hospital with Prince William and their first child on Tuesday evening. The royal trio posed for photos, giving well-wishers from around the world a first glimpse of the mini monarch-to-be.
The proud parents spoke briefly to the media who had been waiting since the beginning of July for Kate to give birth.
“We’re still working on a name, so we’ll get back to you on that one,” proud father Prince William revealed after a member of the media asked about the little Prince’s name.
After leaving the Lindo Wing, the Cambridge’s made their way back to Kensington Palace where they are planning to stay for the coming days.
