As the nation awaits the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child, Peter Phillips, son of Princess Anne and William’s cousin, has revealed how the whole family is excited.
“First and foremost, everyone is ecstatic for them both,” Peter revealed, speaking to CNN’s royal correspondent Max Foster.
“They will make great parents and it’s great to be able to welcome another child into the family, if not from a selfish perspective for my two girls to be able to grow up with a playmate.”

Peter, who married Autumn Phillips in 2008, has two daughters with his wife, Savannah and Isla, and the Duchess of Cambridge has often been seen doting on the two little girls.
In the interview with Max Foster, Peter also discussed how the royal baby will become one of the most famous children in the world and a future heir who will be under the spotlight from a young age.
“He or she will be under a great deal of scrutiny,” Peter explained. “That being said, both of the baby’s parents are used to that and I think there is the structure and infrastructure around them all to be able to protect them to a certain extent.”
The father of two added: “Sure, the baby’s going to be in the limelight, just like William was from a very early age”.
Pregnant Kate is expected to give birth in the next week after telling well-wishers her due date was mid-July earlier this year. “It’s around mid-July, but babies have their own agenda,” the Duchess joked.
The world’s media are currently camped outside the St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, as they await the news of the Royal Baby. After the birth, Prince William and Kate are expected to pose for photos outside the hospital as they leave with their newborn.
