Kate’s uncle Gary, younger brother of Carole Middleton, has confirmed William and Catherine will move in with the Middletons for the first six weeks of Baby Cambridge’s life.
It was only in April that it was reported that, as the royal apartment in Kensington palace is prepared for the new-born’s arrival, the Cambridges will move in with Catherine’s parents until the autumn, when Apartment 1A is expected to be ready.
Kate’s parents live in Bucklebury, Berks, in a Georgian manor, under an hour from London, making it an easy commute for the couple.
Gary Goldsmith said to Hello! magazine: “The fact that they’re taking the baby to Carole’s for the first six weeks is genius. Carole’s a brilliant mum – she is 10 years older than me and practised on me – and I think it’s the right thing to do. It will take the pressure off Kate.”
As Royal Central has already reported, the soon-to-be parents will probably not be hiring a traditional nanny, hoping to be hands-on parents, and it makes sense that Kate wants to be with her parents at such a busy time, with Grandma and Granddad to help out if necessary.

Gary attended the Royal Wedding in 2011. However, since he released a story earlier this year, retelling how Catherine used his house in Ibiza to get away from everything and, eventually talk things through with William after they split, what he has said must be taken with a pinch of salt: the Middletons are quite private people, and were reportedly very annoyed at this. Is it likely he is kept in the loop about such private details? Especially when security will be a priority after the baby is born.
Time will only tell, but it seems that it would be difficult to move security to the Middletons for just 6 weeks….
