Over 100 Canadians will be in attendance at the reception and will include guests from business, sport, entertainment, charity and the media. The Canadian High Commissioner, His Excellency Gordon Campbell, will also be present.
As reported by Royal Central last month, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit Canada from 18th – 21st May 2014. The trip will have the Royal couple met a wide range of people from youngsters to veterans. The emphasis of the visit will be celebrating Canadian achievement.
According to Clarence House some of the highlights will include:

  • The Prince and The Duchess taking tea with Canadian War brides and Second World War veterans in Halifax;
  • Their Royal Highnesses touring a heritage quay and attending a celebration of Celtic culture in Pictou County;
  • Their Royal Highnesses watching the Victoria Day Fireworks with local people in Charlottetown;
  • The Prince walking a new trail in Bonshaw Park, and officially opening it;
  • The Duchess visiting school children in Prince Edward Island who have written to Clarence House to request a Royal visit;
  • Their Royal Highnesses celebrating the centenary of Winnie the Bear (the inspiration behind Winnie the Pooh);
  • The Prince feeding Hudson, a polar bear, at the ‘International Polar Bear Conservation Centre in Winnipeg (as part of the bear’s positive reinforcement training);
  • The Duchess visiting the Royal Winnipeg Ballet to mark its 75th anniversary, and touring the ballet’s facilities, including the costume department and the dance studios.

Charles and Camilla will also take part in events to honour the centenary of World War One, and the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference in Prince Edward Island that led to the Confederation of Canada.
This will be Charles’s 17th visit to Canada and the third for Camilla. Two years the royal couple travelled to New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan on a four-day tour. The couple visited Canada in 2012 to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
