The guest list for an exclusive reception during the Brisbane stage of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s tour of Australia and New Zealand next month has remained top secret until now. 224 names, including 12 high profile guests, were revealed when The Courier-Mail obtained the guest list for a function that will take place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition center on 19th April at 2pm local time.
William and Catherine are known for their preference to meet with ordinary citizens who make extraordinary impacts in their communities, and the trend continues in this list of invitees. Guests will be representing many areas of community involvement, including conservation, rural development, disability advocacy, youth development, health, and welfare. 26 of the attendees will be part of an education sector group which will include a selection of school captains. 14 entrepreneurs also make the list.
Still, there are a handful of VIP’s on the list who are relieved to be included. Attorney-General and enthusiastic monarchist Jarrod Bleijie had been warned that he may not gain access to the event as it was to focus on “ordinary Queenslanders”. However Bleigie will be receiving an invitation along with 11 other prominent guests including Opposition Leader Annastacia Palasczuk, Chief Justice Paul de Jersey, Speaker Fiona Simpson, and The Lord Mayor Graham Quirk.
The gala is to be business casual, with the event info calling for attire of business suits and day dresses. The reception will be hosted by the Governor of Queensland Penelope Wensley and Premier of Queensland Campbell Newman.
