The guards’ bands and soldiers paraded down the ceremonial route, rehearsing the full state event which will greet His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan when he visits on Tuesday for a two-day full state visit at Windsor Castle.

Her Majesty will welcome the President to Windsor Castle after a carriage ride along a ceremonial route which will be lined with footguards from the Guards’ Division and inside Windsor Castle, the President will be welcomed with a full guard of honour.

People lined the streets yesterday to see the rehearsal which saw the bands, King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery and the empty rehearsal carriages pass through the route.

When guests arrive on state visits to the UK, The Queen always likes to throw them the most lavish welcome, on the first evening, a state banquet will be held at Windsor Castle, often attended by hundreds of people.
