Sophie, Countess of Wessex to be guest of honour at Border Union Show in late July

Sophie, Countess of Wessex is to attend this year’s Border Union Show on July 26 and 27, in her role as Royal Patron of the Border Union Agricultural Society’s Bicentenary year.
“We are honoured that HRH The Countess of Wessex has chosen to attend our bicentenary Border Union Show on both days,” Ron Wilson, secretary of the Border Union Agricultural Society said.

“The Countess’s presence acknowledges the importance of this event in the Borders calendar and is a wonderful way to mark our 200th year.
“I am sure the attending crowds will also be delighted to see HRH at the Show,” Ron added.
The Border Union show is set to take place at Springwood Park, Kelso in Scotland, later this month. It will feature more than 500 exhibitors and there will be more than 2,000 entrants to the various livestock judging categories.
Sophie will be given a tour of the event, and is likely to spend the two days exploring some of the exhibitions.
One of the highlights of the show is set to be an exciting History of the Horse Pageant, which will feature stunt riders.
Last week, the Countess of Wessex was praised for her compassion and dedication to her charities after a visit to a school in London.
Sophie was praised after a visit to The Vale School.
Sophie stopped by The Vale School in Haringey as part of her royal duties when headteacher Sarah McLay spoke of her joy of the royal’s visit.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Her Royal Highness and esteemed guests to our school,” Sarah said. “The Countess spoke to every student which made them feel very special.”
