The Countess of Wessex will attend the Westmorland County Show on September 12, it has been announced.
Sophie will visit the show in her role as patron of the Association of Show and Agricultural Organisations. The event, which is expected to attract over 27,000, takes place at the Crooklands Showground near Kendal.
Excitement is building for Sophie’s visit to the Westmorland Agricultural Show on September 12th.
“We are absolutely thrilled that The Countess of Wessex will be visiting the show,” Christine Knipe, chief executive of the Westmorland Agricultural Society explained. “This is the first visit of its kind in our 214 year-history.”
The wife of Prince Edward’s visit is causing excitement amongst organisers and they already making preparations to ensure Sophie enjoys her visit.
“We are really looking forward to showing Her Royal Highness as many areas of our wonderful show as possible, especially the livestock with hundreds of cattle, sheep, pigs and horses,” Jonathan Mason, chairman of the show revealed. “We will all be pulling out the stops to make the visit as enjoyable as possible.”
The visit will be Sophie’s second visit to Kendal, after previously visiting the area in 2011 when she attended the National Association of Show and Agricultural Organisation Conference.
The show which has been described as a”true celebration of Cumbria’s agricultural heritage” will include livestock animals, falcon displays and also cookery demonstrations. This Morning’s chef Phil Vickery is also expected to appear at the event.
Earlier this month, the Earl and Countess of Wessex visited the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at Balmoral in Scotland.
