Royal Central is always open to contributions from people who are interested in the Royal Family. Whether you love writing or want to try and improve your journalism skills or even if you’re just looking for a wider audience for your posts, we’re always interested to hear from you.
What Does It Involve?
We have no restrictions on age or location for our writers. Over half our writers come from outside of the UK and we often find writers from people overseas present the most original and insightful pieces.
You will have the choice, if you become a writer for us, to choose what you write about. If you’re interested in writing about the latest news then you can head over to our news desk and see the latest headlines to choose what you’d like to report on. If you want to write about a period in Royal history or give your opinion on the latest royal matters then we have tools available for you there too.
For those who wish to report, we have contacts available in the Royal Household and experts on tap for you to contact regarding any story you choose to write.
The only thing we do require from you is that you make at least one post every 2 weeks.
Our writers come from all walks of life. Hardly anybody who writes for us is a professional journalist, mostly our writers hold down their own jobs and write for us because it’s what they enjoy doing or sometimes as part of a college or university course.
Royal Central has a tight-knit editorial team with 6 different editors on site. At the top is the Editor-in-Chief who has the final decision on what goes in and what doesn’t. Second in command is the Deputy Editor who works alongside the editor to keep the standards of Royal Central’s work high. The Deputy Editor also has the role of being press relations manager, largely dealing with press interviews and communication with other journalists.
We also have our subeditors who deal with proofreading writers’ posts to keep our standards high. Finally we have the Desk Editor, who scours the web for the latest royal headlines and the Op-Ed Editor, who reaches out to authors, celebrities and other types of people for guest posts to Royal Central.
Royal Central is occasionally given gifts and free samples from organisations who like our website or are promoting their products. Sometimes, we are able to share these gifts or special offers with our writers as a way of thanking you for your work. The things we receive include books, DVDs, food, shopping vouchers and more.
We also occasionally reward writers when their articles do particularly well on the site. Please bear in mind though, writing for Royal Central is not a form of employment.
